Our country faces serious economic challenges going forward. The economy is stalled in neutral, our financial system is weakened, jobs and credit are scarce, and Congress continues to spend more than ever before. In fact, spending by Congress itself is up 7.4% in fiscal year 2009 and they won't stop creating new programs like Healthcare Reform!
Unfortunately, Senator Patty Murray is one of the incumbents who is responsible for bringing this country to the brink of financial ruin.
I don't think she is a bad person, but while she has spent her time on legislative issues that are important to her, she has ignored the fundamental financial health of the nation. Three terms are enough for someone who cares but can't spend responsibly.
We can't afford to re-elect Senator's who ignore deficits, add to the national debt, and openly post on their websites that they worked to undo the Balanced Budget Act. Senator Murray's official website does not even list the budget, the deficits, or the federal debt as issues!
If Senator Murray is not concerned with her spending, you should be because it's your money and your children's future that is being spent.
America has a spending problem. We can't tax our way out of our spending problem, we can't borrow our way out of our spending problem, we can't stimulate our way out of our spending problem, and we can't "cash-for-clunker" ourselves out of our spending problem.
The only way out of a spending problem is to reduce spending. This I promise to do.
